Why Group Therapy?

“Shame dies when stories are told in safe places”- Ann Voskamp

Many people initially feel nervous in group settings. However, as time goes on, they become more comfortable and eventually see the the benefits of group therapy. Groups often normalize the experiences of those in treatment as members quickly realize that they are “ not alone”. Sharing thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental environment is a very healthy process. This provides a very natural support system, which is essential for recovery, and often absent in their lives outside of their group setting.
